Digital moves fast. So do we.

Shaping AI-fluent leaders for a future-ready Canada

Since 2013, we've led digital education for Canadian youth, expanding the reach and impact of our foundational programs each year.

But we don’t stop there—we innovate to equip youth with the skills to harness emerging technologies and tackle pressing societal challenges.

Explore our high level milestones!

2013: Bringing coding to the classroom

Building computational skills and a love for coding among students

Founded in 2013, Kids Code Jeunesse (now Digital Moment) was born from the urgent need to ensure that, from a young age, kids developed the curiosity and essential coding skills to thrive in a digital world.

Bringing together educational and technology experts, we created hands-on, curriculum-aligned programming. After a successful pilot in Montreal classrooms, we launched our Canada-wide coding program in 2015.

Today, we've introduced almost one million students to coding and offer hundreds of free, teacher resources and lesson plans.

2016: Training teachers and volunteers for scale

Launching a train the trainer model to reach more youth

With a teacher–and student–approved coding program in place, we set out to scale!

We launched our Train the Trainer program empowering teachers to confidently run our coding program in their classrooms and partnered with UK-based Raspberry Pi to bring their proven, volunteer-led Code Club program to Canada. Equipping educators and volunteers, we’re engaging more kids and sparking a new generation of tech creators.

Today, we’ve run over 3,000 workshops for educators, and are the #1 Code Club partner country!

2018: Championing AI education in Canada

Cultivating critical thinking skills to navigate in an AI world

Now living in an AI world, youth urgently require the skills to safely navigate. We became the first organization to tackle AI education and rebranded to Digital Moment to reflect our expanded mission.

Based in Montreal, Canada’s AI hub, we partnered with experts, launched Canada’s first AI educational strategy, advocated through an open letter, and participated in key forums including G7 and UNESCO panels.

Today, in collaboration with Google DeepMind, we’re bringing Experience AI training to Canadian educators so they can confidently prepare their students for the future.

2021: Educating digital citizens

Integrating sustainable development goals in everything we do

From our ongoing work with teachers and in classrooms, it was clear that youth were eager to drive change. They recognize the urgent social, economic, and environmental challenges ahead and offer valuable perspectives. To shape tomorrow, they need opportunities to participate and develop skills today.

We launched Digital2030, a 10-year initiative to engage youth in achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through an annual challenge and Digital Leader Roundtables.

In year one, over 24,000 kids participated, pledging to save more than 3,000 kg of plastic!

2022: Doubling down to close the digital divide

Empowering future leaders with a focus on underrepresented youth

The disparities faced by youth from underserved communities and underrepresented groups, including girls, represent an unacceptable reality. A brighter tomorrow demands the inclusion of these diverse voices in shaping solutions.

We piloted the innovative, immersive multi-session Social Innovation Lab, where youth tackle pressing challenges head-on.

Proven effective, in 2024 we’ll begin helping educators implement the Lab in their classrooms!

People having a conversation standing

One of the young girls attending this session of Code Club at our branch spent the first day in tears because she didn’t understand anything about coding and felt like she couldn’t do it. Yesterday she happily and confidently coded a player versus player game.

“The lessons were so easy to follow and to teach to the kids. It was so useful to have something laid out in very specific details. It was also very interactive and offered lots of variety.”
